NRA Basic Pistol Class (sponsored by BVRPC)
The NRA has changed its "Basics of Pistol Shooting" to a 2 Phase format. Phase 1 is an on-line course using a series of short, high quality video instruction. It is up to you, the student, to enroll in this on-line course, and you can find the enrollment process here.
Phase 2 will be conducted at our club and will consist of approximately 75% live fire instruction and 25% classroom instruction.
All details such as schedule, and cost and ammunition requirements have yet to be ironed out. Please check this page often as we will post class dates as soon as we know what they'll be.
Obviously, you must complete Phase 1 before taking Phase 2.
Please be advised that much of the information on this page (and our printable flyer) will be obsolete after March 6th and we will update it as soon as possible.

Maybe you've owned and used a pistol for years but never got any instruction on the basic safety principles and shooting fundamentals you'd need to build a basis of becoming a good shooter.
If this describes you then please consider attending our NRA Basic Pistol Class, sponsored by B.V.R.P.C.
In this approximate 8 hour format of instruction, topics covered will include safe gun handling, pistol operation, shooting fundamentals, ammunition basics, gun cleaning and live fire shooting sessions with one-on-one student/instructor training, and many more relevant topics.
You DO NOT need to own a gun to attend this class. All pistols, ammunition and safety gear are provided for every student. However, you may bring your own firearm if you wish. If that is the case, it will be necessary to bring at least 50 rounds of your own LEAD (non-jacketed) ammunition unless your gun is chambered for .22 caliber, which is what is available in class.
You will be instructed in the appropriate use of both revolvers and semi-automatics.
As the name implies, this is a BASIC PISTOL course and is focused on getting you started in proper and responsible gun ownership.
It is a perfect starting point if eventually you wish to explore training in such topics as home protection, personal protection, tactical gun training or an education in gun laws.
It is our current policy that all students must be at least 18 years of age.
An info flyer for you to keep handy will be posted here as soon as a class schedule is created.
