The NRA has changed its "Basics of Pistol Shooting" to a 2 Phase format.
Phase 1 is an on-line course using a series of short, high quality video instruction. It is up to you, the student, to enroll in this on-line course. You MUST complete Phase 1 before starting Phase 2. You can enroll in Phase 1 by clicking the button below.
Phase 2 will be conducted at our club and will consist of approximately 75% live fire instruction and 25% classroom instruction with an estimated duration of 5 hours: 8AM-1PM. Cost is $50. Click one of the buttons below that correspond to your preferred class date to enroll in PHASE 2

Maybe you've owned and used a pistol for years but never got any instruction on the basic safety principles and shooting fundamentals you'd need to build a basis of becoming a good shooter.
If this describes you then please consider attending our NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting (Phase 2), sponsored by B.V.R.P.C.
In this approximate 5 hour format of instruction, we will review and confirm your knowledge learned from Phase 1 of safe gun handling, pistol operation, shooting fundamentals, ammunition basics, and gun cleaning. A majority of the duration of the class will be spent on live fire shooting sessions with one-on-one student/instructor training (when possible), using a series of progressively more challenging shooting disciplines (but not TOO challenging!)
You DO NOT need to own a gun to attend this class. We can supply you with either a 22LR Semi-Auto Pistol or Revolver for training purposes, along with the needed ammunition. We also provide safety equipment such as eye and ear protection. This is all covered in the $50 cost of the class.
You may bring your own firearm if you'd like, but if it is something other than .22LR, for which we can provide your ammunition, you'll need to bring AT LEAST 100 rounds of LEAD (non jacketed) ammo in your caliber, or we can provide your caliber for a fee. The fee would depend on your caliber as they all have different pricing structures.
As the name implies, this is a BASIC PISTOL course and is focused on getting you started in proper and responsible gun ownership.
It is a perfect starting point if eventually you wish to explore training in such things as home protection, personal protection, tactical gun training or an education in gun laws
It is our current policy that all students must be at least 18 years of age.
